Fukushima restricted zone: the web geometry is a high-resolution vector derived from the official Fukushima Prefecture evacuation-zone concept map (31 March 2025) and georeferenced through the JGD2011 ArcGIS evacuation-zone raster; narrow map-rendering seams between adjacent sections were closed and detached non-zone artifacts removed while mapped release exclusions were preserved; the latest status is checked against the METI evacuation-zone concept map (1 April 2026).
The map shows high-temperature locations detected by NASA FIRMS satellites. Some may be other heat sources; cloud cover and satellite timing can prevent detection.

Wind direction and speed at roughly 10 m above ground, based on Open-Meteo weather models. These are estimates, not direct observations.
The air quality map shows how clean or polluted the air is in different regions of Japan. Data comes from state monitoring stations, as well as from public, private and commercial sensors, combined in a single SaveEcoBot system. This allows you to see a broad picture of the air condition in a mode close to real-time.
By default, the Air Quality Index (AQI) calculated using the NowCast (US EPA) method for PM2.5 is displayed. PM2.5 is small solid particles with a diameter of less than 2.5 micrometers. They are formed, in particular, as a result of fuel combustion, industrial processes, transport and even household stoves. These particles are the most dangerous to health, as they can penetrate deep into the lungs and enter the bloodstream.
The NowCast AQI PM2.5 index translates pollution levels into an understandable scale of levels:
• 0–50 - Good Level, safe for everyone;
• 51–100 - Moderate Level, acceptable;
• 101–150 - Unhealthy Level for sensitive groups (children, elderly people, people with respiratory diseases);
• 151–200 - Unhealthy Level for everyone;
• 201–300 - Very Unhealthy Level;
• 301+ - Hazardous Level.
Indicators can fluctuate throughout the day depending on weather, traffic or local emissions. That is why the NowCast methodology takes into account the last twelve hours of measurements, but with priority over the last few to better reflect the situation right now.
If desired, you can switch the map display to raw data, that is, those that come directly from the sensors: PM2.5, PM10, CO, NO₂, O₃ and others. This is useful for more detailed analysis and research.
